Creative Director, Nick Ball, introduces the Cynergy Events Blog with the excitement of a toddler.
“I want one, everyone else has one, I want one and I want it now, if I don’t get one I’ll squeam and squeam!”
Apologies for the outburst, but due to workloads this blog has been a long time coming. We read blogs, leave comments, discuss social media daily and have even developed social media for our clients, so it’s about time we joined the party.
Social media is quickly becoming the business equivalent of chasing the latest craze, as soon as you get one they launch something new. Like kids in the toy shop we want them all. As we prepare for launch, “Blogs are dead” is the buzz phrase, and microblogging and real-time social media services like Twitter are experiencing a dramatic explosion. On the horizon, Pownce, Buddy Press and P2 are all set to disperse the online audiences further. So why blog now?
For us, these new services simply represent greater choice. Certain platforms work for certain forms of communication. Blogging takes time and commitment, it involves offering fresh regular content, it’s a serious business decision. Balanced against an ability to Tweet a simple idea several times a day, to some, blogging presents a chore they can do without. Just as we approach any design issue with an open attitude as to how the audience will best receive the information, with social media a blog fits both our message and our audiences needs, and for that we embrace the challenge.
There are loads of great reasons to start blogging; sharing ideas, reporting news, discussing our experiences, promoting the causes we help, or offering advice and guidance. We hope to cover them all. There is so much more to Cynergy Events than we could capture and summarise in a brochure or static website. In fact, the idea of defining Cynergy Events is against its core values and principles. Sharing, learning and developing change are what conferences should be about and therefore we aim to integrate those principles into everything we do.
Most importantly, for this blog to be successful, we need your feedback to understand our audience, to improve our services, to grow and to build our knowledge. Let us know topics you would like us to discuss, concerns you have about healthcare, conferences, creativity or social improvement.
We can’t wait to get started. There’s a great list of future posts circulating the office including; brainstorming techniques; public speaking; a guide to an engaging event; being your own hero; websites for mental wellness; how to green your office and much, much more. Watch this space.
Thanks for reading,
Nick.
